Commitment to Achieving Net Zero
Physio4GP is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, aligned with the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap and Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 06/21.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline Year: 2025
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations:
Physio4GPS is a home-based physiotherapy provider with one employee. The business operates clinical sessions within NHS estates, utilizing underused rooms in NHS facilities, contributing to the overall efficiency and carbon reduction of the NHS by maximizing space utilization and avoiding the need for additional premises. There are no direct Scope 1 or Scope 2 emissions. Scope 3 emissions arise solely from business mileage.
Baseline Year Emissions:
| EMISSIONS | TOTAL (tCO₂e) |
| Scope 1 | 0 |
| Scope 2 | 0 |
| Scope 3 (mileage only) | 2.57 |
| Total Emissions | 2.57 |
Offsetting Contribution:
100 trees have been planted via Tree Aid. On average, a tree sequesters approximately 0.15 tCO₂e over its lifetime. Thus, 100 trees × 0.15 tCO₂e = 15 tCO₂e sequestered over time.
Current Emissions Reporting
Reporting Year: 2025 (same as baseline)
| EMISSIONS | TOTAL (tCO₂e) |
| Scope 1 | 0 |
| Scope 2 | 0 |
| Scope 3 (mileage only) | 2.57 |
| Total Emissions | 2.57 |
Emissions Reduction Targets
Physio4GPS is committed to reducing carbon emissions through operational changes and offset initiatives:
– By 2030: Reduce Scope 3 emissions by 25% through reduced mileage and adoption of low-emission transport options.
– By 2040: Achieve a 50% reduction in Scope 3 emissions.
– By 2050: Achieve Net Zero emissions through continued reduction strategies and carbon offsetting.
Projected Emissions Reduction:
We aim to reduce total carbon emissions to 1.93 tCO₂e by 2030, a 25% reduction from the 2025 baseline.
Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives:
– Tree Planting Offset: 100 trees planted through Tree Aid, sequestering an estimated 15 tCO₂e over the trees’ lifetimes.
– IT Equipment Recycling: All IT equipment (computers, phones) is recycled through local council recycling facilities.
– NHS Estates Utilization: Clinical practice is conducted in underused NHS estate rooms, optimizing existing infrastructure and reducing the need for separate premises.
– Remote Working: Administrative functions are performed remotely from home, eliminating Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
Planned Future Initiatives:
– Vehicle Upgrade: Transition to a hybrid or fully electric vehicle by 2030.
– Increase Virtual Consultations: Expand telehealth services where clinically appropriate.
– Ongoing Offsetting: Continue supporting reforestation and similar offset projects annually.
